Symbolism & Meaning
This is the second time this card has appeared but I will give a brief overview of the traditional meanings regardless. The Nine of Cups is symbolic of abundance, wealth and security. A man looks very proud of the cups he has gathered that are displayed behind him. He feels that he deserves these cups and this shows in the way that they are presented, upon a lavish blue cloth. Traditionally, this card is known as the “wish card” in tarot. This is symbolic of our dreams and desires coming to fruition.
The Nine of Cups is a reminder that yes, we have worked hard and achieved a lot but, we also need to sit back and enjoy this success.
How the Nine of Cups is Relevant to Me
I think it is interesting that this card follows my Two of Wands card from yesterday. My dreams haven’t come to fruition however, I am working towards them and a huge part of that is my health. The Nine of Cups does also link to health and wellbeing and I have certainly been working hard to improve this both physically and mentally. This often feels like a one step forward, two steps back situation but overall, I have made huge progress and this can only get better.
I do feel like I have plateaued lately and this can, on occasion, make me feel a bit down hearted and I struggle to imagine a future where I am back to full health. My progress is definitely slowing down but that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t celebrate the achievements that I have made.
The Nine of Cups may have popped back up to remind me not to forget that although I am a work in progress, the fact that I am even sitting here typing this journal is something to be hugely grateful and proud of.
