I never intended to buy more than one deck. It kind of just happened and now I can’t stop myself! It is true though that you can connect to a certain deck, I have enjoyed working with all of these, some do resonate more than others though. This often changes too, depending on my mood and what may be going on at the time.

Rider Waite Smith
Arthur Edward Waite, Pamela Colman-Smith
This was the first tarot deck I ever purchased. All of the educational books I have purchased used this deck so for ease of learning, it made sense to do the same.
This particular deck was created by Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite.
The illustrations are beautiful and give each card a narrative. This makes reading intuitively much easier and helped me to connect with the individual meanings, as well as how to connect them together to find connections within a reading.
This deck has been the influence for hundreds of decks, as illustrated in my other deck selections.
This is a great deck to choose if you love tradition and want that to be part of your reading.
Stellar Vault Tarot
Amrei Hofstätter
I deliberately wanted a complete deviation from the traditional when I chose this deck, at least from an art point of view. I love the anime slash art deco aesthetic which, combined with the pastel colour palette, just makes me smile every time I look at it.
This stunning deck follows the Rider-Waite structure while also incorporating subtle deviations as a nod to the Crowley Thoth system. I am not personally familiar with this system but I may explore it at some point.

I had heard people talk about feeling a connection to particular decks but I don’t think I fully understood it, until this one.
I just love everything about this deck. From the backs of the cards to the way they shuffle, I felt a connection before I even laid the first card down on my table.
Using the influence of Rider Smith Waite imagery, this deck lovingly portrays queer relationships, diverse body types, and various gender presentations. I didn’t realise until I read the guide book that many of the characters are drawn from real friends and family in Isabella Rotman’s own life.
This deck just makes me want to buy more, which is no bad thing!
The Light Seer’s Tarot

Another beautiful deck and the one I am currently using in my daily practice as of 19/07/2026.
This deck intertwines traditional with modern elements and captures the Rider Waite Smith meanings and symbolism beautifully.
The colours are vibrant and have a very “boho” vibe; this definitely contributed to me being drawn to it in the first instance.
I am loving using this deck and it has definitely helped me to tap into my intuition on a deeper level.
It is my current favourite and I will only tear myself away from it when I feel drawn to pick up another deck!
The Everyday Witch

This is a fairly new deck to me but I just love it. I have always been drawn to certain elements of witchcraft and I remember trawling the “witchy” shops in Glastonbury many years ago, desperately wanting to purchase everything!
I loved The Witches of Eastwick as a teen (I have lost count of how many times I watched it) and my guilty pleasures are Practical Magic and the Hocus Pocus movies. The list of witchy TV shows I have watched are endless. Ok, I know these aren’t exactly traditional witch type things but what can I say, I love the cheese!
Every card in this deck tells the story associated with the traditional meaning in a modern and quirky way. I particularly love the use of cats to help tell the stories throughout and, of course, the obligatory stripy tights!
The Earth Woman Tarot

This deck just makes me want to take a deep exhale and relax into it.
The faceless figures portrayed so beautifully make it very easy to intuitively read the cards without being subconsciously influenced by any facial expressions.
When I go through these cards I can imagine myself sat outside my (previous) bell tent with a roaring open fire and loads of incense burning!
This deck is very much rooted in the earth and is full of organic and botanical elements.
The Phantomwise Tarot

I had to have a black and white deck. I spent quite some time deciding which one I wanted and the beautiful imagery in this one leapt out at me. It kind of mixes the macabre elements of the circus and Alice in Wonderland. I love it, especially, because Erin Morgenstern drew it when she was learning to read the tarot herself. This was originally done for no other reason than to assist her with memorisation, something I have struggled with in my own study. I would try this myself but, alas, I have zero artistic talent.
Clearly, I cannot resist a deck with cats sprinkled throughout but also, there is something about these images that just speak to me, making it so much easier to tap into my intuition. I am quite partial to the macabre so maybe that partly helps too.
