Symbolism & Meaning
This card represents nostalgia, innocence and childhood memories. The picture shows two children exchanging cups filled with flowers, symbolising the pure joy of their connection. This card encourages you to find your inner child and embrace the carefree feelings that come from this. If you have children, spend time with them. Their unbridled honesty and no filter attitude is a perfect antidote to the mundane reality of adult existence!
Why the Six of Cups is Relevant to Me
Yes, this has come up before but today, it hits different. That is why I love this process and the way it seems to connect with what is happening so succinctly.
I am fortunate that I have an amazing family. That has just been cemented even more by the events of the last five months. My mum came up to stay, no questions asked and no strings attached. She just did it and was fantastic. We honestly couldn’t have coped without her so if you are reading this mum, thank you.
Steve has well and truly stepped up. We have been together for 22 years and I can’t lie, we have had some pretty serious ups and downs in that time. He has allowed to me to just focus on getting better and not worry about anything else. You don’t fully appreciate how much goes into keeping a family running smoothly until part of that mechanism breaks. When that happens the mental load is pushed onto another person with no warning and no chance to prepare. He has done it perfectly so Steve, if you are reading this, thank you. I know we have lost many parts of what makes us us, but we will get it back.
I can honestly say that as horrible as the last five months have been, I absolutely love spending more time with my children. We have two teenagers, Freya (17) and James (15). James is home educated and is (or bloody well should be) studying towards sitting his GCSEs next spring. He is therefore at home every day.
They are, for the most part typical teenagers and the events that took place on the evening of 10th February 2026, must have been a shock. They don’t share their emotions at all so I may never know but the human being in me likes to think they gave a little bit of a shit. If I have needed any help around the house they have done it, begrudgingly, but they have done it.
James was up when I came downstairs this morning. He cracks me up. His endless anecdotes and questions are a challenge when you have literally just got up and haven’t even had a coffee but nevertheless, he made me proper belly laugh for a good half hour, so it was worth it.
“so, can I get a guitar for Christmas”
“Costco is like Nazi Germany with it’s bloody memberships”
It’s so bloody hot, I hate this country”
“I just rested my arm on the kitchen counter and nearly burnt it off”
“actually, I would give my life for a gaming PC for Christmas, I already have a guitar”
“Henry’s alright with hoovering up water, right?”
This was regurgitated by James over the space of about a ten minute conversation. I call it a conversation loosely, I basically get “talked at” on a daily basis.
I BLOODY LOVE IT!!
I love how my kids just express their true selves and I hope that they always will. I want them to be good, kind, confident human beings.
Yesterday was a heavy day emotionally and physically. I had quite a tough psychologist session and my pain levels were worse than usual.
This morning James, my six of cups guide, has been the perfect antidote to that and the perfect start to my day.
