The Seven of Pentacles

Upright Keywords: Growth, Patience

Symbolism & Meaning

The Pentacles represent our money, the physical body, health and stability. Many of us may associate this with the feeling of being grounded. Like it or not, societal conditioning has also led us down the path of linking stability with wealth.

In the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck, the man in the card can be seen staring longingly at his crop of seven pentacles. Although he has been working for a long time, he feels frustrated at his lack of progress.

How the Seven of Pentacles is relevant to me

Before I sat down this morning I was shuffling my cards and thinking about how much I am enjoying this daily ritual. I have always been a creative person but I didn’t realise how much I NEEDED creativity in my life to feel truly fulfilled.

This card represents a project or idea that has been lurking in the background but hasn’t fully come to fruition. The Seven of Pentacles is telling me I can pause and look at my progress, but I need to try and be grateful, not impatient and frustrated. I am very close to seeing the tangible results of my efforts and must not give up.

Interestingly the actual meaning of the Seven of Pentacles refers to how a daily self care or spiritual ritual is slowly bringing the changes I have been hoping for. It always surprises me how each card I pull resonates with me so much.

This week the distraction of planning my macrame projects and dreaming of the possibilities has truly been a blessing for my soul. I cannot believe the impact this has had on me psychologically. Physically though, I have been met with some challenges. This is where the patience element comes in. For Macrame, I need to either sit or stand, depending on the project and how big it is. Unfortunately, the nerve pain means that I need to alternate between these movements and can only manage short periods.

My medication is also a factor. I am on the highest dose of Dihydrocodeine that is allowed and it is an Opioid. The side effects mean that I have trouble concentrating. This is definitely having an impact as I have to go over the patterns multiple times and still make mistakes, undo my work and try again. For small projects like a keyring this isn’t so much of an issue, for larger projects it really does test my patience.

The other main medication is Pregabalin. The main side effect is that I feel very “out of it”. It is always there but more prominent when I am mobile or concentrating

All of these circumstances contribute to why I need to keep going but be patient. I said to Steve yesterday that for some reason, everything is telling me that I need to try and make something of this as a business.

Every small step compounds over time and I will eventually reach my goal.
