Symbolism & Meaning

The King of Cups sits on a beach, the light from the sun just visible behind him. He is meditating and as he reaches for his singing bowl, he connects with his intuition. Finding the balance to stay strong for others whilst also taking care of your own emotions can be tricky. He holds power but he is also aware that this power is deeply linked to his emotions.

How The King of Cups is Relevant to Me

This is a sign to me that I need to be gentle with myself and allow myself time to heal. When I look at this card, I know that I want to feel just like The King of Cups.

Something so strange has happened since my accident. I feel like I have a whole new appreciation for my little family. I just want to be a mother, a wife and overall, a nurturer. To fill my time I have started baking again and my children are asking regularly what I will be doing next. I forgot how much I loved just looking after my family and making sure their needs are met. I love being here when Steve gets home from work and having the chance to just catch up with his day. These things are important.

In order to do this successfully though, I need to also look after myself. I can’t give from an empty cup so I need to find that balance. It is an odd feeling. I am in pain every day and I feel very far removed from the person I used to be, at least on a physical level. In other ways though I feel so very fortunate that I can now take my time to focus on myself and also dedicate my time to helping my family. At the moment, nothing could be more important to me.
