Symbolism & Meaning
This card traditionally represents some kind of formal education, tradition and establishment. It encourages you to respect traditional methods, however, it also asks you to question them too. There is much to be gained in seeking wisdom from those who have come before, we just need to be careful not to blindly follow without also listening to our inner guides.
In the card we see the Hierophant, sat at the bottom of a staircase; a staircase that will lead us to the path we desire. Follow your heart and listen to your inner voice. This is the most important part of your journey.
How The Hierophant is Relevant to Me
I never would have thought that spirituality and rituals would become so important to me but here we are. As part of this though, I have inevitably bought the books, watched the online videos and tried desperately to memorise cards and meanings to heart.
Although there is certainly value to respecting the true meanings of these cards, there is also huge value to feeling connected to the feelings and messages I get from certain decks and the cards I pull. I need to find the balance and acknowledge that there is no rush to this. At the end of the day, at this moment in time, I am just doing this for me. Yes, I do plan to eventually share it when I am ready but right now, I just need to follow my intuition.
I love the traditional meanings and deeply want to learn, appreciate and use them in my practice. I also want to develop my intuitive side and fully trust myself when doing a reading.
This will all come with time.
