Justice

Upright Keywords: Fairness, equality, balance

Symbolism & Meaning

This is not the original Rider Waite Smith deck but I will explain below. The meanings are based on the original Rider Waite Smith, as are all of my decks.

The upright image shows a woman holding what looks like two swords interconnected with two cups evenly balanced. She looks at peace with the image reflected back and feels confident in what she has to do. This isn’t a time for emotions, reflective reasoning is necessary in this instance. The reflected image below gives off a very different vibe, one of assertiveness and wisdom. When you look closely at the image, it looks like she is also holding onto the swords. I like to think that she is an outward expression of what the upright woman is feeling on the inside. The outside world sees a calm, peaceful exterior but inside, a fight for fairness and equality is brewing.

How Justice is Relevant to Me

Before I get into it, I have decided to use different decks in my daily readings. I am wanting to explore my intuitive side and I desperately wanted to explore this deck. It arrived yesterday and the artwork is just beautiful. I will talk about it more on my personal decks page.

Here is a little peek.

It’s just so gorgeous. From the quality of the cardstock to the stunning artwork and imagery, I really feel connected to this deck. I am ready to explore my intuitiveness when it comes to tarot readings and this deck is perfect for that.

I will be doing the same with all of my decks and rotate them depending on how I am feeling that day. Today, I feel a bit rubbish so this is the perfect antidote.

I think this is the 3rd, maybe 4th time Justice has come up for me since I started my journal. Justice, or the need for justice sits heavy on me daily. From a financial compensation point of view, that is almost complete, next is the legal side of things. We are yet to know a court date, things are still ongoing and evidence is still being gathered.

I have decided not to go to court. I don’t think it will help me and I am worried it may trigger unwanted memories. I do however need to write a victim impact statement to be read out in court. I don’t really want to do it but apparently it can be very cathartic.

I need to remain strong and have faith that the legal system will be on my side. I don’t even know how I am supposed to feel about it. My lack of memory means that I don’t really feel very much. I desperately miss my old self, especially when Steve and I are discussing what to do with our time off. This is hard because what I am able to do is so far removed from pre April 10th.

Today though I will try to clear my mind of all the noise and focus on feeling better.
