The Eight of Pentacles

Upright Keywords: Hard work, productivity

Symbolism & Meaning

This card shows an apprentice sat at his workbench, carving pentacles into each coin with great care and attention to detail. This card symbolises mastering your craft, whatever that might be. This is a sign that you should embrace your passion and commit wholeheartedly to your goals. With dedication and perseverance, you can achieve great success. This apprentice is happy in his work and knows that tackling the same tasks day after day is challenging, but the key to honing those skills and creating something of long lasting value.

How the Eight of Pentacles is Relevant to Me

This card fell onto the floor face down whilst I was shuffling and I felt compelled to pick it up. I literally had to make space on my desk for my laptop due to the array of tools I have laid out. Circumstances have led to me deciding to fully invest in myself and follow my creative path.

This is how my desk currently looks. I am excited because these are very similar to my cake decorating tools however, they have had an upgrade and will now be used for silver instead!

When I was cake decorating there were certain things I hated, such as modelling people and objects and certain things I loved, mainly flowers and anything botanical.

I know I have the skills to do this I just need to fully back myself and commit to the process.

Over the next few days I will be setting my work station up properly and getting things in place to start honing my skills. At the moment, my plan is to specialise in botanical jewellery. I intend to create one off moulds from flowers, leaves and plants found in the wild and turn them into wearable pieces of fine silver jewellery.

I have no idea when I will be sharing this journal with people so by the time you see this, I may even be up and running. That’s the lovely thing about having this journal though. I can look back and see what I managed to achieve.
