The Empress

Upright Keywords: Receiving love & creativity

Symbolism & Meaning

The Empress sits on a pillow surrounded by forest with a river flowing towards her. By her side is a heart with the symbol of venus prominently displayed. She is open to receiving love and beauty in all its forms. The crown she wears represents the 12 signs of the zodiac. She is raising her scepter and is adopting an open body posture, symbolising her receptiveness.

The Empress represents self love. Importantly though, she is a reminder that I need to be patient and allow myself to connect with my creative and spiritual self.

This is not the time for forcing a feeling or situation. The Empress is relaxed and trusts that by opening herself up, she will receive everything she desires.

How The Empress is Relevant to Me

After the emotional intensity of yesterday, this card feels very necessary.

The Empress is all about self love. After such an emotional day, I need to just sit and reflect on everything. Some of what she said was an eye opener to say the least. I thought my recovery would be just about the broken bones healing but it is so much more than that. I am very limited at the moment. I can’t really go out on my own and the days feel very long. It would be very easy to let this get to me and slip into a depression. I do consider myself to be quite a strong person so I need to focus on my creative hobbies to get me through.
