How The Eight of Wands is Relevant to Me
Message in a Bottle had a positive survey so on Friday, she will be ours! This has certainly been a whirlwind and was not what we expected at the start of our boat search. When you find the right boat though, you just know so we couldn’t see the point in delaying it. If we had waited, every boat we looked at would have been compared to her.
Yesterday was a great day overall. We met the sellers at Whilton Marina just as she was being lifted out of the water. They have a very impressive piece of equipment called “Hercules” which is basically a giant mechanical sling.
A brief chat followed with the surveyor and then we went to the cafe for coffee. I feel like it is a sign that we clicked with our sellers so easily. The whole process has felt fairly straightforward thankfully. They are genuinely lovely people and have nothing negative to say about their time spend on Message in a Bottle. They have even offered to take her straight to our marina so we can do the transfer there. That is a huge help because as much as we were looking foward to the journey, going straight into locks and the Braunston Tunnel did feel a bit daunting.
Afterwards the surveyor gave us enough verbal information to enable us to make a decision on whether we proceed. Everything he mentioned to be done are just advisories and he said there was nothing major to worry about. The company who did the last blacking didn’t do a great job apparently but that is something we can rectify, and plan to do so in October this year.
So here begins the start of a new adventure. It is very exciting and I can’t quite believe we are in a position to do it. I truly hope that my recovery continues positively so that I can enjoy Message in a Bottle for many years to come.
