In the imagery of the Moon tarot card, you typically find powerful symbols such as the moon itself, which represents mystery and the unknown. This can been seen as an opportunity to embrace the parts of ourselves that we tend to suppress.
The card also shows a coyote and a dog, both howling at the full moon. This symbolises our discomfort with the duality of our personality and how we tend to conform to the domesticated dog. The wolf symbolises our wild side that is within us albeit buried under the years of having to conform to what society expects.
The crayfish in the river symbolises our need to look deeper and below the surface. How many of us are following our true path?
How The Moon is Relevant to Me
The moon card is essentially asking me to listen to my intuition. Pulling this card today feels very deliberate.
Anyone who knows me knows that I march to the beat of my own drum. I have never been the type of person to be happy settling in one place. Honestly, the only reason we are settled now is because our children need it. They are at an age where exams and college take priority. If it wasn’t for that, I would be ready to move on.
I have always felt the pull to lead an “alternative lifestyle”. The possibility of living on a boat first took hold when we lived in Kent. Not far from us was a residential marina and as part of the local home education community, we often came across families who were part of of this alternative way of living.
Unfortunately, my obsession with boats has not been passed down to my children so any dreams were quashed pretty quickly.
However, they are getting older and the possibility of the alternative lifestyle seems more within reach.
This card is confirming what I was already feeling. I need to put things in motion now that will help make a dream of an alternative lifestyle a reality.
