Symbolism & Meaning

In Tarot, The Justice card might not necessarily be symbolising law in it’s actual sense. The scales represent the need to balance both sides of a dispute, and the double edged sword symbolises power and clarity that can come from letting Justice prevail. It could also mean that you have been wronged by someone but don’t worry, they will not get away with it. Have faith that Karma is on your side.

How Justice is Relevant to Me

Because Steve and I briefly touched on this last night, I am going to take the meaning of this card literally. So much time has passed that I keep forgetting there is a legal side to my accident. I can’t remember the exact terminology but we know that the driver was charged. It is something along the lines of causing injury by careless driving. When I was discharged from hospital, the police officer (who was also first at the scene) came to visit me at home. It was the first time I had spoken with someone who was there immediately afterwards and witnessed what followed. I know there were multiple 999 calls but I am sure that his expedience, and that of the air ambulance crew saved my life. The air ambulance team also called me to give me a timeline of how it all unfolded. The speed of it all was extraordinary and to be honest, these accounts are the only way I am able to make sense of it all.

I think it will always be quite surreal to me because as far as I am concerned, I got off the bus and then woke up in hospital. My only clear memories are once I was on the ward following my surgery 2 days later. I know I was only unconscious for a few minutes but my brain must have been protecting me from the pain and psychological impact. The human body really is incredible.

At the time, the police did tell me there was enough evidence to support the fact I was not at fault. Apparently, the driver gave conflicting reports and to be honest, given how I was flung in the air and landed a fair distance from the crossing, I just don’t think he saw me at all.

We were originally told that it could be in Court around June. It is now nearly September and we have heard nothing. I haven’t had very much to do with it so far but apparently, I have to write a victim impact statement which will be read out in Court. I am anticipating this to be an emotional task as to be honest, since my psychology sessions ended, this is the most I have thought about the details and how it has impacted my life.

All I know is that I don’t want to be be in Court. I think my brain has shut everything out for a reason and I don’t need to hear about it. As for the driver, I don’t really feel anything. I am not a vindictive person by nature so I certainly don’t wish anything bad for him. At the end of the day, it was an accident. Yes, he should have been paying attention but we are all guilty of lapses in concentration and the reality is, it could happen to any of us. I am torn because even though I know I need to write the statement, I like to think that he is remorseful and feels dreadful about what happened. If that is the case then I would just like to give him a hug and tell him that I am actually ok.

Forgiveness can be very powerful and regardless of what happens legally, I need to forgive him and move on.
